Marketing Committee
About Us
The Marketing Committee develops and administrates a marketing plan to promote libraries and library services, as well as the profession. The committee also actively provides workshops and sessions periodically throughout the year and at the annual OLA Conference. This committee is also responsible for the OLA Store that sells merchandise with the current OLA logo at events throughout the year including Conference, Encyclomedia, and the Mildred Laughlin Festival of Books for Young People among others.
Our current chair is Stacy Schrank, Employee Development Coordinator of Metropolitan Library System. Stacy can be contacted at sschrank@metrolibrary.org.
Upcoming Events
Im"press" your Community: We are currently planning and waiting on approval for this intense workshop that we hope to present as a pre-conference workshop at the 2011 OLA Conference. Participants will learn how to prepare professional and appealing publicity materials for their communities including press releases, public service announcements, and flyers. Under the guidance of expert panelist and speakers on library marketing the participants will leave with a press kit that will prepare them for taking their library services to the next level when they return home. Stay tuned for more details.
Meetings
The Marketing Committee meets the fourth Tuesday of each month at the Metropolitan Library System Service Center. Meetings start at 10:00 am. Committee members unable to attend in person are encouraged to participate in the meeting using DimDim, which requires nothing more than a computer and telephone.
